These days, we spend the majority of our time on our phones or using some type of technology. Some people find phones and technology can consume your life, and others find it can be a simple escape from reality. Recently I’ve discovered 6 incredible apps that are not only super fun to use, but they also help you in your day-to-day life. If you find yourself glued to your phone, or needing an extra push to keep active or seek advice, I have jus the apps for you.
Plant Nanny is a fairly recent app that allows you to take care of a variety of plants and flowers all whilst reminding you to drink the needed amount of water for your body weight and amount of activity you do in your day-to-day life. I’ve only had this app for a few weeks, but I am absolutely loving it! I’ve gone through three plants so far and I’ve been the most hydrated I’ve been in a while. With the reminder that my ‘plant’ needs a drink, it reminds me to have a drink and to make sure I get enough water throughout the day. It’s not really a game, but you can find it under the game section on the App Store or on Google Play. It is completely free to use so you don’t have to pay a thing! If you’re always on the go and suffer with headaches if you don’t drink enough, then this app is most definitely for you. Give it a try and see what you think! You can share your pictures of your plants and how they’re growing up on your social media. If you tag me in any pictures of your plants, I’ll be sure to give them a like!
A month ago I would never have known what Evernote was. I had heard of it before, but never really looked into it. That was until I read a blog post about how to stay organised and stay productive. I use my Evernote account to organise what I need to do for Crowley and things I need to remember to do for him. I also use it for saving information for any blog post or work I’ll be doing in the future for The Purple Project. It quickly became something I use and check every single day to keep my work manageable and to keep my life from feeling too hectic. If you want to have everything at the tips of your fingers, then Evernote is definitely an app/ site to consider using in the future.
Lyf is a brand new social media app where users feel safe to share their ‘journeys’ that can be seen as taboo on other platforms such as Facebook or Twitter. I’ve recently started using Lyf and at first it was to see how it differed from other social media platforms. But now it’s something I really adore using. I feel safe and free to talk about my journey with bipolar, depression, my blog, dog, and getting a new job! The users I’ve encountered are genuine and do their best to make you feel better if you’re having a bit of a down day. There are times when I feel like I can’t share how I feel online, but Lyf makes me feel as if I can say anything and still feel like a valid human being. One of the many things I love about Lyf is that you can control to keep your identity anonymous, or you can go public with any issue you have. You can also control who sees anything you post. So in other words, it can be your online diary that no one can find. Or you can seek advice from likeminded people, or people in similar situations if you so wished. I can’t praise this app enough for everything it does. I’d definitely give it a try if anything gets too much for you at some point! You never know, you might find that you’re not alone in whatever you’re facing.
7 Minute Work Out
To find the time to work out and keep healthy isn’t always easy if you’re juggling a job, a social life, family life, personal time, and just a generally busy lifestyle. I certainly find it hard to find the time to actually fit in a chance to go to the gym or work out with the lifestyle I have. But 7 Minute Work Out is something that has started to get me active again! And it only takes 7 minutes. 7 minutes of exercising can make you feel a lot better, and you’re more likely to go on and do more exercise just to go above and beyond what the app expects you to do. Since getting Crowley I’ve not had a proper chance to use it, but it’s definitely something I can’t wait to get back into using. If you’re struggling to find time to keep active throughout the day, give this app a try! You can make it as easy or as challenging as you want it to be, and you’ll definitely feel like you’ve done a lot more physically once you’ve started using it!
So this one isn’t something that’s brand new, but it is something I’m really loving right now. Headspace is an app that allows you to meditate and keep calm throughout the day. No matter where you are, or what you’re doing, this is something you can use in a fun and simple way. If you’re anything like me, you’ll find meditation and mindfulness extremely important in your day-to-day life. I sometimes need to stay in tune with my own mind and body before it drives me insane with the constant ticking away. To practice meditation/ mindfulness via Headspace will keep you in control of how you do experience stress and any tension. But more than anything, it’ll keep you calm, and ready to take on the day and relax for a good nights sleep. If you’ve never had considered Headspace before, but you need a chance to keep your thoughts and emotions at bay, then I definitely advise trying it for a few days. You’ll feel more relaxed and in control of life. Having said that, I know this isn’t for everyone, but if you’ve never tried meditation or mindfulness, you’ve got nothing to lose if you want to try it. Headspace is completely free to use and gives you all the information you need to get started!
From the same developers that created Plant Nanny, Walkr is designed for you to discover brand new planets in a universe you create… and all you have to do is walk! The more you walk, the more energy you create which allows you to speed up ‘planet production’ and you get to discover more planets in less time! I’m obsessed with my Fitbit, so combined with Walkr I am always striving to achieve my daily step goal. It’s definitely something that I have at the back of my mind which motivates me to keep moving throughout the day. Again, if you find it hard to keep active and do regular exercise at the gym, this app can definitely help you achieve your daily step goal/ your daily fitness goal. Plus, you get to explore a brand new galaxy. What’s not to love?!
